Youth Job Skills Fair

Thanks to a $15,000 grant from the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Issaquah community Network, Issaquah Schools Foundation, Issaquah Chamber of Commerce, Issaquah School District, Issaquah Rotary Club, Sammamish Rotary Club, Issaquah Youth Advisory Board and Sammamish Youth Advisory Board sponsored a Youth Job Skills Fair on November 12, 2011.  Nearly 100 students attended.  Seven break-out speakers provided expert advice on the skills required to locate jobs in a tough economic climate.  In addition, nearly 30 lunchtime mentors provided expertise on selected career areas.

Ninety-seven percent of student evaluators agreed that the event was "worth my time."  Ninety-six percent of the evaluators said that the keynote speaker should be invited to speak again at a future event.  Breakout speakers received universally high marks from students for their presentations.

Thank You

"I wish I had the words to properly articulate how utterly impressed I was with Saturday's Job Search Workshop. I was there with two teenagers who left feeling far more prepared to 'hit' the job market and excitedly talking about how they had an 'edge' on their friends and peers who did not attend. . . . We can't wait for next year. I'm sure my son will be bringing a lot more participants than just one friend.  On behalf of this graduation class and next I would like to express their gratitude."
